PYLI Class 8 November 08
PYLI has partnered with 2M2L!!
November was the 3rd session for PYLI Class 8. Candace and Holly couldn't be with us because they were helping with the blood drive in Apache, but the rest of us worked all day with Red Rock Area Prevention Resource Center on a project targeting underaged drinking prevention. Later in the afternoon we learned about SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) in Oklahoma and how to start a SWAT in our own schools. It was also a happy birthday for Amy, Brian, and Chris!
Michelle, Paul, and Kerri helped us formulate a community service project in the morning; and then Maureen informed us about SWAT and big tobacco companies in the afternoon. Busy day for Rachel, Michaela, Jessica, Addy, Brett, Brian, Amy and Chris!!

PYLI class VIII session 2
Class VIII met on October 1 and worked on leadership development and planned for their upcoming community service project.

I like my PYLI friends. . .

Guest Speakers came to talk to the class about underaged drinking prevention.

The class will meet again in November to fully develop plans for their service project. Red Rock West Prevention Resources will be there to partner with PYLI in efforts to prevent alcohol access to underaged drinkers. See you then!!

PYLI Class VIII session 1
Welcome to the Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute blog! PYLI's mission is to train young leaders from the Caddo Kiowa Technology Center service area and allow those trainees to develop leadership skills for the future as well as form a network with other young people and resources in their respective communities. PYLI members for class VIII come from several Caddo County communities including Binger, Fort Cobb, Hydro, Eakly, Gracemont, and Apache.
Meet our trainers, Cindy Murphy and Shawn Freie:
Lots of different activities go on throughout the training. Here are some pics of a few featuring this year's PYLI: Rachel, Jessica, Brett, Amy, Michaela, Candace, Brian, Holly, Addy, Chris and Amy.
In session one, PYLI members wear blindfolds to learn more about teamwork.
